Tesla rolls out new FSD Beta, no more right-hand drive Teslas, and Tesla forces to update software in 1 million vehicles.

Good morning! Thank you for opening your Tesla Folder.

Tesla started the week off poorly… 😥

Here’s what we have for you today:

  • Tesla rolls FSD Beta 11.4.1 out to the public

  • No more right-hand-drive Teslas

  • Quick bites

New FSD Beta ‘could easily be labeled FSD 12’ according to Elon

📰 The highly anticipated FSD Beta 11.4.1 update has hit the road, delighting a select group of public testers. These testers get to experience the cutting-edge features and architectural improvements that this version brings.

Before reaching the public testers' eager hands, the update spent three weeks being put through its paces by Tesla employees. Now, with the initial release to employees deemed successful, version 11.4.1 has been unleashed upon the OG testers, totaling about 1,000 Tesla drivers. That's roughly 0.25% of Tesla owners equipped with the FSD Beta.

📈 If all goes well and no major hiccups are encountered, the next stop is expanding the beta version to more Tesla owners. The expansion will likely follow a gradual approach, with 10-20% of users gaining access in waves, similar to the previous 11.3.6 rollout.

The update comes packed with improvements that result in smoother, more precise driving. Tesla's engineers have fine-tuned the geometry, curvature, position, and type of lanes, lines, road edges and restricted spaces, enabling the vehicle to navigate city lanes, forks, merges and turns with improved accuracy.

🏎️ The system's perception and detection capabilities have been significantly improved. The Occupancy Network now incorporates lane-guidance inputs to enhance its ability to detect features on the road from a long distance - even when the video quality is pool.

Elon Musk himself has acknowledged the magnitude of the architectural improvements in FSD Beta 11.4.1, suggesting it ‘could easily be labeled version 12’. However, Tesla is reserving that milestone for the moment when Full Self-Driving achieves full AI capabilities, encompassing everything from video input to control output.

No more right-hand-drive Teslas

🛞 Tesla is shifting gears in right-hand-drive markets. It is no longer offering right-hand-drive versions of the Model S and Model X and has canceled standing orders, streamlining production and cutting costs.

The decision was driven by the complexity of converting the cars and Tesla's minimalist approach. Unfortunately, buyers in right-hand-drive markets like the UK, Japan and Hong Kong now face tough choices: settle for left-hand-drive, receive a credit toward a Model 3 or Model Y, or cancel their order and seek a market-specific vehicle.

❌ This change only affects the Model S and Model X, not the Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla's decision reflects the challenges and considerations involved in catering to specific market demands while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
