FSD addressable market almost doubles, potentially

🏎️ Europeans are feeling FOMO as Tesla's FSD Beta software remains unavailable on their continent due to strict legislation. However, the European Commission is speeding up the process by fast-tracking the DCAS legislation. If the draft is finalized in June and adopted in September, FSD Beta could be allowed on European roads in early 2024, one year earlier than expected.

🗞️ This is great news for Tesla because the total addressable market for FSD would potentially close to double, as Europe is a significant market for the company.

🗺️ While the differences in European roads and legislation could make FSD development more challenging, Elon Musk previously said that 90% of the FSD Beta features developed for North America apply worldwide, leaving only 10% left to adjust to European legislation.

Cybertruck testing into high gear

🛻 Tesla’s Cybertruck is getting closer to production, with recent sightings of the electric truck being tested on public roads and at a wind tunnel. The most recent sighting was at the Fremont test track in California, which suggests that production is imminent.

☎️ At Tesla’s shareholder meeting, Elon Musk announced a Q3 reveal date for the Cybertruck, indicating that the electric pickup is a once in a lifetime product. Tesla’s shareholder deck also revealed that the truck had entered preliminary production, with a small number of prototypes being constructed by hand.

⏰ Despite all these details, mechanical specifications, pricing and availability have yet to be announced by Tesla. However, with hundreds of thousands of reservations estimated and fans eagerly awaiting a full reveal in Q3 of this year, the Cybertruck’s launch is one of the most anticipated events of 2023.
